Henry Hart became the Inn Keeper of the Lord Nelson Public House, East Bradenham in 1836 shortly after the death of his wife Mary Ann Hart on Feb 11, 1834 at the age of 41 - Maybe being brought up in an Inn was why Matilda took on the White Horse Inn at Little Cressingham after her husband John died.

  • Matida's daughter Emily re-married Abram Sutton Jun quarter 1937 and carried on as landlady as Emily Sutton untill 1956 - Emily died in 1957 age 85.
  • Matilda's grandson Victor Tolman (1916) was landlord 12/10/1956 - 14/02/1958 - Victor died 1971 age 55

In the mist of life
we are in death

After Matilda's death her son Walter Tolman (1861) took over the White Horse Tavern for about two years according to records 1890 - 1892 Walter and his wife Amander both died in the Sep quarter of 1895 for resons un-known at this moment in time. Walter's brother John Tolman (1870) who was a single man and Famer then became Landlord in 1896 according to records. In the Dec quarter of 1900 John's sister Emily Hoggett nee Tolman (1872) lost her husband Herbert Hoggett at the very early age of 30 leaving her with two young children. We see in the 1901 (above) how John gave home and support to not only his his brother's children and also to his sister Emily and her children.
