James Taylor
1809 - 1883

Tim Wooltorton has sent me a copy of the 'Shotesham Baptism Records' from these records we have discovered that James Taylor born January 12, 1809 was actually baptised James Tyler the son of John and Elizabeth Tyler. In the same book records show other siblings of of James, all but one baptised with the surname 'Tyler', William born 1813 was baptised Taylor. I have searched for John and Elizabeth's marriage and John's birth records to determine what surname was recorded on those events but so far without success, so it looks as though John and Elizabeth were not from that parish. There were no other Taylor's in the book.
So it throws open a few questions was Tyler actually their surname and they changed it between 1809 and 1813 of was it a dialect and transcription error.
