George Luxton 1805 was baptised in Brushford on April 15, 1805


George Luxton (1805 - 1884) an agricultural labourer, settled in the attractive coloured cob and thatch village of Newton St Cyres on the south side of the river Creedy, about five miles from Exeter and three from Crediton. His wife with the admirable Biblical name of Kezia Webber baptised at Kennerleigh on December 22, 1810, had also settled in the village when they married at St Cyres in the fifteenth century parish church. on June 18, 1831. Eleven children were born to the couple and ten were baptised at Newton St Cyres, before Kezia died aged 46 and was buried there on May 10, 1857.

Richard Luxton (1832 - 1910) baptised on May 20, 1832 - Richard was a shoe maker, resident at Broad Windsor, Dorset when he married Matilda Hallett, a farmers' daughter in the Parish Church on April 15, 1857. The couple are believed to have moved to work at Swansea Docks in South Wales before moving to Runcorn in Cheshire, where Richard was employed as a sub-contractor, building the Runcorn - Wines Railway Bridge. The family finally settled in Northwich, Cheshire, where Richard worked as a foreman for the Town Council. His wife Matilda died aged 63 at Northwich on April 7, 1894, and Richard , a 56 year old foreman married Sarah Pennington aged 23, on June 17, 1894. Richard died aged 78 in Northwich on January 10, 1910.

1 - Child of Richard Luxton (1832) and Matilda Hallett
William George Luxton (1858 - 1924) the eldest son of Richard and his first wife Matilda Hallett, was born at Drimpton, Broadwinsor, Dorset on December 11, 1858, where he was baptised on January 9, 1859. William moved with his parents to Cheshire and he was a well known and highly respected resident, who spent much of his life in Runcorn and Northwich. He worked for United Alkali for fifty years (a Company which eventually became ICI). He was a salt boiler when he married Laura Jackson (1861 - 1955) at Northwich, on September 12. 1880. In time he was promoted to become works manager of United alkalis' research site in Wildnes. Among his friends in the scientific world, were E.G. Ferdinand Hunter and Vero Charles Drifield, both of whom were famous in their respective fields. In 900, he took out a Patent No 12180, the provisional specification was "improvements in and apparatus for the manufacture of Cyanides from Sulpho Cyanides"
William George Luxton of 34 Greenway Road, Runcorn, Cheshire, died July 17, 1924. Administration of his personal estate valued at £1173..15..10 was granted on August 18, 1924 to his widow Laura Luxton who died aged 95 in Runcorn, on September 10, 1955. William Gorge Luxton and Laura Jackson had thirteen children, in the Northwich and Runcorn Areas. This includes two babies who died in infancy:

Charles Luxton the second son of Richard Luxton and Matilda Hallett was born at Broadwindsor dorset on March 23, 1860. In 1881 he was a plumber living in Winnington, Cheshire with his parents. The family moved from Dorset to Runcorn by the October/December quarter of 1864, when Augustus Walter Luxton their next son was born. Augustus was a 22 year old cabinet maker, when he married Helen Holdam Blanche Sansome 20 in Blackpool, Lancashire on July 12 1887. his wife Helen Blanch Luxton of Ardsley House, Stretford Road, Urmton, Lancashire, died on July 17, 1917. The administration of her estate, valued at £924..14..7 was granted in London to Augustus Walter Luxton on September 9, 1922. Augustus W. Luxton died aged 69, in the spring of 1934. Eliza Jane Luxton 1834 - daughter of George and Kezia Luxton labourer of Cowley Bridge, baptised at St Davids' Exeter on September 21, 1834. Eliza married William Dymond 22 at Newton St Cyres on December 31 1854. William Dymond 57 Police Constable and his wife Eliza 56, lived in 1891 census, at Snows' cottage in Kennerleigh, Devon.

Kezia Luxton - September 11, 1838 - Kezia married William Downey in 1860 when they were both servants at Bowhill House, St Thomas, Exeter, which was then a lunatic asylum. Shortly afterwards, they moved to Torquay where their eldest child, the Grandfather of Gwen and Dorothy Downey of Exmouth was born in 1861.

Samuel Luxton - December 18, 1846 - may be the Samuel and Mary Luxton, tanner, who had daughters Mary Ann and Maria baptised at Crediton on May 21, 1872, and a daughter Caroline baptised on March 26, 1876 when he is described as a carpenter.

Louisa Luxton - July 22, 1849 - Louisa married a Fred Coggins from Bishops Nympton in the South Molton area, in the summer of 1870. In 1891 the couple and their five children were living at White Hill, St George, Gloucester where Fred was a 39 year old labourer at a chemical works.

 
10 - Child of George Luxton (1805) and Kezia Webber 

John Luxton - October 6, 1851 - John joined the Royal Navy on April 23, 1868 , but deserted his ship in 1873 when it was in Auckland, New Zealand. There he changed his name to George Loram to escape the authorities, worked in hotel management in Coromandel and died in New Zealand on January 17, 1914.
